On February 20, 2023, Mr. Saksayam Chidchob, Minister of Transport presided over the opening ceremony of the IMO Member State Audit Scheme (IMSAS) along with Dr. Athirat Rattanasetha, Deputy Minister of Transport, Mr. Chayatham Promsorn, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transport, Mr. Sorapong Paitoonphong, Acting Director-General of the Marine Department, Mr. Kriengkrai Chaisiriwongsuk Director of the Port Authority of Thailand and heads of related agencies attended the ceremony at the Wisut Sakradit Conference Room, 4th floor, 162 Years Building, Marine Department.
In this connection, a team of auditors from lMO came to inspect Thailand as a member of IMO, a specialized agency of the United Nations. That plays an important role in developing and coordinating to raise the security standards of international maritime transport. By the project to inspect member countries It has evolved from a voluntary project (Voluntary IMO Member State Audit Scheme: VIMSAS).
In this regard, as Thailand plays the role of a member of the IMO Council, which Thailand receives support from and is the first country to who participate in voluntary projects and internal processes have been improved in an integrated manner with relevant agencies In order to make the implementation of IMO’s commitments more efficient, in addition, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of relations between Thailand and IMO, it is considered a good opportunity for Thailand to demonstrate its commitment to IMO in Sustainable development in water transportation through the IMSAS forum with the aim that Recommendations from a team of expert auditors It will help improve the system of agencies involved in water transportation in Thailand. as well as achieving the common goal of IMO members for safe, environmentally sustainable international transport.<\/h1>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/section><\/div>\n\n\n\n
